‘Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde’ is innovative departure for SummerFest, and it pays off

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, KCTC  SummerFest’s second play in its three show 2009 season had a great opening last night at the Arboretum and drew positive critical and audience response.

This talented ‘Jekyll’ cast includes Bob Singleton, Adam Luckey, Kim Dixon, Susan Wigglesworth, Jacob Karnes, Matt Seckman, Jim Trujillo, and Pinelopi Williams, and is directed by Patti Heying.  

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde performs under the stars again tonight, July 16  through Sunday July 19, at 8:45 p.m. at the Arboretum on Alumni Drive. The gates open at 7 p.m. with general admission tickets just $10 for adults. Reserved chair seats are $12, and a reserved Blanket area for 4 is $49. This riveting play contains mature subject matter.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Ready to Open its Doors July 15

You will find out what’s behind the many doors of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when our second SummerFest show, presented by KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns, opens on Wednesday, July 15 at 8:45 pm at the Arboretum, and runs through Sunday, July 19.

Tune in to WUKY 91.3 FM for “Curtains @ 8″ with host Nick Lawrence from 8 to 9 pm all this week! Several “Jekyll” cast and crew members are featured segment guests with Nick and they delve into what’s behind the doors and so much more, in this  fascinating world of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a Kentucky premiere of this adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher!

Director Patti Heying  and actor Bob Singleton (Dr. Jekyll) were guests on WKYT-TV CBS 27  Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. with anchor Bill Bryant. And a scene from the play with Bob and actress Kim Dixon will be aired on WKYT’s Afternoon show later this week!

General Admission Adult tickets for SummerFest’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are $10 at the gate, which opens at 7:00 p.m. with an 8:45 p.m. curtain. A reserved chair can be yours for just $12, or a reserved blanket area for 4 is $49.  Performances of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde run nightly from Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19, at 8:45 p.m. This play does contain mature subject matter.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde will be featured on WKYT’ 27-CBS  Noon Show on Tuesday, July 14 between 12:30 and 1 p.m.  Be sure and tune in and see a scene from the play featuring talented local actors Bob Singleton and Kim Dixon.

At the conclusion of  Sunday night’s final performance of Henry IV, Part I, our talented team of theatre technicians including Production and Set Designer Kay Meyers and Lighting Designer Josh Preston, moved into high gear to, quite literally, make the overnight change-over of the sets, lights, and costumes for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, our second offering of SummerFest 2009.  A Kentucky premiere of the adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde opens Wednesday, July 15 and plays through Sunday July 19 at 8:45 pm nightly at the Arboretum.

Well-received by audiences and critic’s alike, SummerFest’s first week’s offering of Shakespeare’s Henry the Fourth, Part One has its final performance tonight, Sunday, July 12 at 8:45 pm at the Arboretum.  We hope to see you at the show tonight with a great  - and dry – weather forecast …Hurray!

Saturday Night Live Theatre! Henry IV, Part I @ Arboretum!

Just checked the Weather Channel and the LIVE Radar looks good for tonight’s performance of KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns presents: Henry the Fourth, Part One under the stars at the Arboretum on Alumni Drive.  (If this site had audio the sound effect you’d be hearing right now: Knocking on Wood. In case of  weather, we simply hold the curtain and check in with WKYT’s meteoroligists and make a final decision between 9:15 and 9:30 pm.)

The Arboretum gates open tonight @ 7 pm, and Curtain is @ 8:45 pm, Each act runs about 65 minutes.  General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under. Reserved seating is available at the gate as well.  Stop by Liquor Barn (one of SummerFest’s many wonderful sponsors!)  for food and beverages before heading out to see the play under the stars!

Thanks to actor Jeff Sherr for this wonderful photograph of the Double Rainbow that leads to the SummerFest stage at the Arboretum. The photo was taken as the rains were subsiding and the sun  reappeared early Friday evening before the 8:45 pm performance of Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part I.

Thanks to the many experienced outdoor theatre-goers who came out to enjoy the show last night!  They knew the show would go on and they brought their ground tarps to keep their blankets dry!
