‘Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde’ is innovative departure for SummerFest, and it pays off

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, KCTC  SummerFest’s second play in its three show 2009 season had a great opening last night at the Arboretum and drew positive critical and audience response.

This talented ‘Jekyll’ cast includes Bob Singleton, Adam Luckey, Kim Dixon, Susan Wigglesworth, Jacob Karnes, Matt Seckman, Jim Trujillo, and Pinelopi Williams, and is directed by Patti Heying.  

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde performs under the stars again tonight, July 16  through Sunday July 19, at 8:45 p.m. at the Arboretum on Alumni Drive. The gates open at 7 p.m. with general admission tickets just $10 for adults. Reserved chair seats are $12, and a reserved Blanket area for 4 is $49. This riveting play contains mature subject matter.

KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns present SummerFest 2009 production of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is a Kentucky premiere of the adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher, from the Robert Louis Stevenson novella.

 

Coming Next Week to SummerFest 2009…

 the Tony-nominated, family-friendly, Caribbean musical, Once On This Island. Performance dates for this beautiful musical with its stellar cast are July 22 through July 26, Wednesday through Sunday, at 8:45 pm nightly.

Directed by Patti Heying and with a wonderfully talented cast of local actors, the Kentucky premiere of Jeffrey Hatcher’s adaption of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde opens TONIGHT, July 15 @ 8:45 pm. The gates at the Arboretum on Alumni Drive open at 7 pm. General admission for adults is $10 for our second SummerFest show, presented by KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns.  This show contains mature subject matter.

With eternal thanks to our presenting sponsor, Dr. Nick Kouns, tonight (Tuesday) is the final full dress rehearsal at the Arboretum for KCTC’s SummerFest 2009s Henry the Fourth, Part One by William Shakespeare which officially opens the Festival on Wednesday, July 8 at 8:45 pm. ”Henry” runs through Sunday, July 12.)

General admission tickets ($10 adults/$5 kids 12 and under), reserved seats and blankets, and See Three Season Passes will all be on sale at the Arboretum beginning at 7 p.m. each night!

A sneak peak at “Henry” last evening had the cast in gorgeous costumes by designer Missy Johnston, a stellar and crisp sound system by Richard Jones of ProSound, and riveting sets and lights by Kay Meyers and Josh Preston. Arboretum walkers and pop-in guests last night included writer Kevin Derringer and Scott Terrell, the new maestro of Lex Phil, and SF’s presenting sponsor Dr. Nick Kouns. Tonight, Rich Copley of the Herald-Leader will be out taking photos.

SummerFest will be featured on WKYT-TV 27 Noon show with Barbara Bailey and Bill Bryant, between 12:30 and 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 8.

 On WUKY 91-3 FM’s “Curtains @ 8″ with host Nick Lawrence on Wed, July 8, at you guessed it, 8 p.m. will be ”Henry 4″ director Joe Ferrell, actors Walter Tunis, Eric Johnson and Trent Fucci, along with SummerFest board president Joe Cannon Artz!
