Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Ready to Open its Doors July 15

You will find out what’s behind the many doors of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde when our second SummerFest show, presented by KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns, opens on Wednesday, July 15 at 8:45 pm at the Arboretum, and runs through Sunday, July 19.

Tune in to WUKY 91.3 FM for “Curtains @ 8″ with host Nick Lawrence from 8 to 9 pm all this week! Several “Jekyll” cast and crew members are featured segment guests with Nick and they delve into what’s behind the doors and so much more, in this  fascinating world of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, a Kentucky premiere of this adaptation by Jeffrey Hatcher!

Director Patti Heying  and actor Bob Singleton (Dr. Jekyll) were guests on WKYT-TV CBS 27  Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. with anchor Bill Bryant. And a scene from the play with Bob and actress Kim Dixon will be aired on WKYT’s Afternoon show later this week!

General Admission Adult tickets for SummerFest’s Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde are $10 at the gate, which opens at 7:00 p.m. with an 8:45 p.m. curtain. A reserved chair can be yours for just $12, or a reserved blanket area for 4 is $49.  Performances of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde run nightly from Wednesday, July 15 through Sunday, July 19, at 8:45 p.m. This play does contain mature subject matter.

Coming Next Week to SummerFest: The Tony-nominated, family-friendly Caribbean musical Once On This Island, July 22-26, Wednesday through Sunday, at 8:45 p.m.

KCTC and Dr. Nick Kouns present SummerFest 2009 at the Arboretum!

We’d also like to give a shout out to Kelly Flood (State Representative, 75th District). Ms. Flood  joined our Board president Joe Cannon Artz on stage  and offered up a warm and welcoming curtain speech to our audience at the Thursday, July 9 performance of Shakespeare’s Henry the Fourth, Part One!  Thank you Rep. Flood for your kind words in support of the arts!

We hope to see all of you at tonight’s performance of “Henry” at the Arboretum! Gates open at 7 p.m. and the curtain is at 8:45 p.m.

SummerFest News 2day! July 7, 2009

With eternal thanks to our presenting sponsor, Dr. Nick Kouns, tonight (Tuesday) is the final full dress rehearsal at the Arboretum for KCTC’s SummerFest 2009s Henry the Fourth, Part One by William Shakespeare which officially opens the Festival on Wednesday, July 8 at 8:45 pm. ”Henry” runs through Sunday, July 12.)

General admission tickets ($10 adults/$5 kids 12 and under), reserved seats and blankets, and See Three Season Passes will all be on sale at the Arboretum beginning at 7 p.m. each night!

A sneak peak at “Henry” last evening had the cast in gorgeous costumes by designer Missy Johnston, a stellar and crisp sound system by Richard Jones of ProSound, and riveting sets and lights by Kay Meyers and Josh Preston. Arboretum walkers and pop-in guests last night included writer Kevin Derringer and Scott Terrell, the new maestro of Lex Phil, and SF’s presenting sponsor Dr. Nick Kouns. Tonight, Rich Copley of the Herald-Leader will be out taking photos.

SummerFest will be featured on WKYT-TV 27 Noon show with Barbara Bailey and Bill Bryant, between 12:30 and 1 p.m. on Wednesday July 8.
